British plane sent to search for missing girls breaks down

A British surveillance jet which was on its way to
Nigeria to help in the search for missing Chibok girls
reportedly broke down in Senegal due to unspecified
technical problems.
UK Ministry of Defense released a statement explaining
this...
"A technical fault which has delayed the Sentinel
aircraft on its way to Ghana is being investigated
and will be solved as soon as possible. In the
meantime the UK military team continues its work
on the ground while other surveillance aircraft
continue the search for the missing schoolgirls," .
British Prime Minister, David Cameron, announced that
Britain would offer Nigeria a surveillance jet to help in
the search of the missing girls.

NIGERIAN SOLDIERS RELUCTANT TO FIGHT - U S GENERAL

A US General on Thursday May 15th, said the Nigerian military is becoming afraid of engaging Boko Haram insurgents and this might affect the US level of involvement in finding the missing girls Punch reports Testifying on Thursday before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the US Air Force Chief of staff, Gen. Mark Welsh III, said, “We’re now looking at a military force that is, quite frankly, becoming afraid to even engage. The United States doesn’t have the capacity, the capability to go rescue every kidnapped person around the world.” The New York Times reported that the US might choose to minimize its involvement in the search for the over 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram due to doubts over Nigeria’s military capabilities. Continue... Saturday PUNCH learnt that the US had questioned the ability of the Nigerian military to rescue the girls even with international help. The Pentagon’s Principal Director for African Affairs, Alice Friend, also said, “The Nigerian military has the same challenges with corruption that every other institution in Nigeria does. Much of the funding that goes to the Nigerian military is skimmed off the top, if you will.” US officials have also said that its involvement had also been made difficult because Nigerian officials ignored past warnings to soften brutal tactics that only fuelled the Boko Haram’s insurgency. At Thursday’s Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, officials condemned the kidnappings and committed American aid to help rescue the girls. But they also expressed frustration at Nigeria’s political and military leaders for failing to heed Washington’s warnings about the extremist group. “We have been urging Nigeria to reform its approach to Boko Haram,” Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Robert Jackson, said. He added, “From our own difficult experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq, we know that turning the tide of an insurgency requires more than force. The state must demonstrate to its citizens that it can protect them and offer them opportunity. When soldiers destroy towns, kill civilians and detain innocent people with impunity, mistrust takes root.” A retired Head of the US military’s Africa Command, Gen. Carter Ham, said, “My sense is that US Government will remain in a supporting role to Nigeria. I do not think the U.S.G. will seek unilateral action.” The size of the Sambisa Forest is also believed to make the search for the girls difficult. “We are basically searching for these girls in an area that’s roughly the size of West Virginia, so it’s a tough challenge, to be sure,” state Department spokesman, Marie Harf, said on Thursday.

Three Large Explosions Rock Maiduguri This Morning

The city of Maiduguri in Borno state this morning experienced three large explosions suspected to be a major bomb attack, Sahara Reporters reports

Saharareporters could not ascertain if the explosions led to deaths or destruction of any kind. But our sources states that the three explosions were heard across the city.

SaharaRepoprters learnt that fighters from the Islamist sect Boko Haram are attempting to bomb and take over a major military base known as "Giwa barracks" in Maiduguri. A gunfight is raging in the area as at the time of publishing this report.

GUNMEN KILL 69 PEOPLE IN KATSINA STATE

69 people including men, women and children were killed in separate attacks and several houses razed in 3 villages in Katsina State this week. Fulani Herdsmen have been accused of being behind the recent attack.

Confirming the attack to AFP, a lawmaker in the state, Honorable Abbas Abdullahi Michika said the men attacked three villages; Mararrabar Maigor, Kura Mota and Maigura Villages, where 47, 7 and 8 bodies were recovered from each village respectively

"So far, 69 bodies have been recovered from the attacks carried out by a large group of gunmen riding on motorcycles".

Fulani Herdsmen have been in a running battle with local farmers over the loss of grazing land which is important for their cattle.

SAD: MOTHER SELL 3 DAYS OLD BABY FOR #260,000

According to a report by Punch, a nursing mother in Akwa Ibom named Imaobong Udoh (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly selling her 3-day old baby girl for N260,000. Full report below Also arrested along with Imaobong were four persons for allegedly participating in the theft of the baby. They are the buyer, Mrs. Regina James; her husband, Mfon James; the traditional birth attendant who delivered the baby, Mrs. Comfort Henry; and Mr Emmanuel Okon, a homeopathic doctor, who arranged the sale. Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Gwadabe, said in Uyo on Monday that the father of the baby had reported the theft to the police, leading to the arrest of the suspects. Gwadabe said, “On March 3, 2014, a case of child stealing was reported by Mr. Eteobong James, of No. 33 Urua Ekpa Road, Itu Local Governmnet Area, to the police, where a three- day-old baby girl was sold for N260, 000. “Based on the report, the suspects were arrested. “Mr Emmanuel Etim Okon, was the one that arranged the infamous deal and personally conveyed the baby from the point of delivery at Nna-Enin in Uruan Local Government Area to the buyers at No. 37 Church Road, Uyo.” The police boss explained that Regina allegedly paid N150,000 to the mother of the baby and N110,000 to Okon, the homeopathic doctor, for his services. The commissioner stated that the accused would soon be arraigned in court and warned child thieves to steer clear of the state. He explained that the state would not be conducive for their illicit trade. Husband of the buyer, James, who spoke with PUNCH METRO said when his wife told him she was pregnant, he gave her money for ante-natal care, but was surprised to hear that she bought the baby. He said, “l am a trader. My wife, Regina, told me she was pregnant and I gave her money for ante- natal. One day, she told me she was in labour and later informed me that she had been delivered of a baby girl. “I did not know she bought the baby since she has given birth to four children, though three died.” However, the homeopathic doctor said Regina brought the mother of the baby, Imaobong, to him so that he could take care of her during ante- natal. He said Regina had explained to him that the father of the baby was not financially buoyant to take care of her. He denied collecting N110,000 from Regina, stating that he only collected N30,000, which was the cost of delivery of Imaobong’s baby. “When Regina brought Imaobong to me, she told me that the man responsible for the pregnancy was unable of take care of her. “The N30,000 I collected from her was for the upkeep of Imaobong before and during delivery of the baby. 1. “I STILL LOVE HIM”
I my opinion, this is one of the most important things you should never say about your ex to anyone. If you still feel this way and it’s been a while since you two broke up, just try to keep it to yourself. By keep telling other people how much you loved him and how much you still do, you’ll only prolong the healing process, so that’s why, sometimes it’s best to just “fake it ‘till you make it”.
2. “HE WAS SUCH A JERK!”
This is another thing you should definitely avoid when talking about your ex, no matter how long it has been since you two broke up. It’s just not nice to say bad things about people, especially about someone with whom, at a certain point in your life, were pretty happy. You will only look bitter and full of remorse.
