Boko Haram: Borno Christians pray for God’s protection

Christians in Borno State have commenced a one-week fasting and prayer to seek God’s protection, blessings and preservation amidst religious hostilities.
Within the last few weeks, over 500 people have been killed in Konduga, Gwoza and other areas of the state by the Boko Haram insurgents.
Rev. Bitrus Bdliya, chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Maiduguri said,”upon the security challenges we face, we will not relent to emphasize the role of the Church as an agent of peace.
“I call on all Christians to acknowledge this responsibility and to pursue it vigorously. I admonish every Christian to re-examine his or her relationship with God and with his neighbour, knowing well that to be able to maintain peace, you have to be at peace with God and with your brother or sister”.
He added that, “unless we do this, we can’t claim to be instruments of love and forgiveness which are necessary ingredients that can promote and guarantee true peace in our families, communities, nation and the world at large.
“1 Peter 1:8 says,’Though you have not seen him, you love him, and even though you do not see him now you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy’.
“It is God’s desire to bless us and to give us peace and rest in this generation, but we must learn to dwell in his presence, for that is where all our needs are met”.
He said, “The history of persecution of early Christians by great powers lasted 312 years. When the right time came, God used a pagan Emperor to bring an end to such cruel treatment of the followers of Christ. This man was Constantine.
“By the grace of God, another Constantine would emerge in the Northern part of Nigeria where Christians are persecuted in Jesus’s name”.
The CAN Chairman said,”as we humble ourselves before God in prayers this week, let us come with sincere and confessed hearts to enable our prayers be acceptable unto our God”.
Rev Bdliya told Christians that without these, they may spend hours and days praying at the highest of their voices “but it will be in vain, we will be just like the 450 prophets of Baal and prophet Elijah on mount Carmel”.

ONE DOOR CLOSES ANOTHER OPENS

This is the best decision one time top Nigerian hip-hop star, Eedris Abdulkareem, has ever taken as he has decided to go into farming as the music industry is no more favourable to him.
With the younger generation taking over and raking loads of money, Eedris has decided to try his hands in other ventures so as to be able to take care of his family.
Eedris, who was popular with hit tunes like ‘Nigeria Jaga-Jaga’ and ‘Mr. Lecturer’, told a tabloid recently that he has gone into large scale agro-business in Kano State, where he acquired large hectares of land to cultivate maize and other crops for export.
This is better than engaging in war of words, Twitter fights and diss songs with other acts like Don Jazzy and Nomoreloss.
This is what Eedris said:
“I am a farmer now. Since 2001, I have been fully engaged in agricultural activities and also have investment in metals.
“I have vast land where I cultivate maize and other fruits for export in Kano.”
We salute you, Eedris

EME BOSS DROP SKALES

Reports reaching me  have it that popular rapper and singer, Skales, have been dropped by his record label, Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).
The split which was by mutual agreement, was necessitated by the expiration of his contract with the Banky W-led recording house. According to our sources, Skales’s contract with EME had expired, and the company directors, didn’t think it was profitable to renew his contract with him.
Skales was signed to EME in 2010, on a 3-year contract, and amidst a number of hit songs such as Mukulu, Take Care Of Me, and Komole, he had not truly risen to the top of mainstream Nigerian music. His situation was not helped by the meteoric rise of his label-mate, Wizkid. So he was dropped.
Further confirmation of the report can be gotten from social media, as Skales has taken off EME from his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, but no official word has been received from him or his representatives. All efforts to contact him and our contacts at EME have yielded no result.
